Crazy Week - Boise East

Crazy week – Boise East

Hey Mama and y'all,

This last week was a crazy week of events. Let's start with the first thing that happened and it was Tuesday. We were in a lesson teaching a family from Colombia speaking the good language of Spanish. One of my companion’s phones was buzzing but he kept muting it. (We are in a trio at this time) Well we get out and the notification says call from President Nygaard (mission president). Oh snap that must be important, so we sent a text saying sorry we are in a lesson when would be good to call. We continue on with our day and then receive that second call, but by this time I received an email from him saying that I have been permanently assigned to the Boise Idaho Mission. With that email in mind I thought he was calling to tell me that news but wait there is more. He asked me to become a zone leader since one of them went back to Brazil. So with that news I spent it packing some and transferring to a different area Friday morning. That is what made the week real crazy but lots of fun.

We were also able to have lots of lessons teaching others the Gospel and helping them build a relationship with their loving Heavenly Father. It has been lots of fun getting to know more people and how to build those communication skills. We have done lots of service as well these last few days from pruning bushes to moving boxes in the rain. But in all as a missionary it has been a fun week.

Now I want to share with you all my testimony of Jesus Christ. Last week now email was written but we got the opportunity to watch a concert film called the "Lamb of God" and it got me reflecting on what I know to be true. I want to testify that Jesus is the Christ. And as it says in the Restoration Proclamation "He is our Savior, our Exemplar, and our Redeemer" I know that to be true. As well as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true and living church that Jesus Christ is our chief cornerstone and the Book of Mormon is the keystone. This knowledge and testimony has come to me through studies of Christ's life and teaching in the Bible and more specifically the Book of Mormon. I share these things that I know in the name of Jesus Christ Amen

Nice Weather - March 15, 2021

Nice Weather

One of the people we meet this week was a self-referral. As we were discussing the first lesson The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ she shared how much it made sense to her compared to other things she has been taught. We are really excited to meet with her again.

We also lot a met of members and shared little messages of the gospel. It has been lots of fun meeting members and getting to know their stories as well. And hearing stories they have about the missions they served in. The other thing we got to do for the members was share our testimonies at church specifically in the language of Spanish.

So many great things are happening and lots of wonderful opportunities to learn something new every day. I am glad that I was called to serve a mission and assigned to Boise Idaho

Week 75 - March 8, 2021

Week 75

Hola a todos, I didn't know what to title this email, therefore fill in the blank with the amount of weeks out or a random number. However you feel.

This week has been a busy week, starting with some temporary exchanges, transfers, service, and lessons.

Tuesday we received a message from our branch president about someone that he would like us to meet. Welk at the time I was on an exchange due to my companion having a farewell dinner with the Mission President before he leaves for Chile. So here I am responding back in the Spanish I know "we would love to help" but in Spanish of course. Then drove over to the church building(I don’t do a lot of city type driving) and met the one President Lopez wanted us to which means we set up a visit as well.

Then we get on to our other days of the week, it was the normal go to lessons and teaching others how to come closer unto Jesus Christ. As well as calling multiple people to set up future appointments. There was one day it was back to back answers appointments everywhere, but unfortunately some have canceled and some have rescheduled. Key word is that they were rescheduled.

That is the highlights of the week and I want to know share about my studies. As I studied the Restoration proclamation (the one given to us by President Nelson) it brought to remembrance simple truths I have been taught, and it connects all points of the gospel so beautifully. I also made this connection with the first three lessons of the go preach my gospel. We have the restoration so we can learn more clearly the plan our loving Heavenly Father has laid out for us. And then we have the Gospel of Jesus Christ so we may know the path we need to take to return to Him. The conference talks from April 1971 had a recurring theme that I had noticed, which was how important it is to stay on the straight and narrow path, that there will be hard times but as we stay with it blessings will come in all aspects of our lives. I also read some Ensign articles that were in the institute manual and it takes about the Philosophy of Korihor and how we can counteract it. And it is as simple as reading the Book or Mormon and following our church leaders, The gospel is true and has stood the test of centuries, but the philosophy of an Anti-Christ is full of errors and contradictions. It is interesting to study deep into the scriptures and the words of the Apostles.

There is the week for y’all, I hope you have been enlightened and are having a great time in the weather!!

Movers

Hola a todos,

This week was a good week in finding new people to teach. We had set a goal to find two new people and to accomplish this goal we set out to call old investigators. On Tuesday one of them answered and we got an appointment set up, she had said any time after five and we had some things fall through and shuffle around, so we went a little after five, and no answer at the door. We left a little disappointed and went to get dinner, then once again we said some time made open, so off we went back to her house. This time she was home and answered. I learned a lesson from this one visit to be diligent and keep moving forward. If we do all that we can, we will be guided and blessed. It falls with being 100% responsible. Another example from this week was last night as we continued to call old investigators. We have been calling some of them all week trying to get an answer and set something up, then last night as we tried again with them, answers started to come. It was great to see the little things happen.

We also did lots of little service opportunities to help those around us. It was a lot of cleaning and moving. When we cleaned there was so many chemicals that Covid wouldn't stand a chance. It is always a good day to serve others.

The other cool thing we did this week was I gave the closing prayer in branch conference. I was very nervous but it all came together and was good. I am glad to have been called Spanish speaking and learn more.

That is the week for y’all and have a good week

Love y’all,

Elder Cormack
