Intercambios

Intercambios [Exchanges]

Hola Madre,

[Google Translate: This week I had three exchanges. And two in one day. First it was Wednesday and I left by Casa Grande. Then in Casa Grande one more exchange because the zone leader had an interview and a distractio leader near Casa Grande had an interview as well. Then I went with the independence partner for an hour. The second exchange was Friday.]

This will be in English because it is a good one. The district leader is also training a new missionary from Utah. So when my companion went with the district leader to Chocope. I was in my area with one learning the language. Do not worry we made it through the day and got things done. It was a lot of fun.

The next part is the people we are teaching. They are all amazing and want to know more. Have a desire to learn and like the discussions we have. It used to be like lectures and then they just did what we told them. It doesn't cultivate a testimony.

There is the bigs of my week. Not much else to say but the normal - walk along the roads and contact people. You try to help find that happiness comes from living the gospel and not the worldly things.

Caminar (walk)

Buenas Tardes,

Este semana fue duro y bien. (This week was hard and good) It was hard in the since of that all the people I found from the week of contacting aren't answering or postponing the visits. So we went with the visits we had. And then when Sunday came we called and visited people in their houses to get them to come to church and we got no answers once again. I realized that I needed to work on patience and maybe do things in a different way. I am going to start using members and teaching their friends. I had this idea that if you teach one person and then ask for their friends it will end in a huge wave. Say each friend has 2 more friends. So you start with one investigator then it goes to their two and then four and then eight and so on.

The story for this week is that when you move your left foot and right foot you can get places and move around. It is a cheap and very fun way to get around. It also allows you to learn streets faster. Keep moving one step at a time.

Then my last story since it wasn't a big kind of week is that while we went to teach this one lady she asked if we can wait while she goes and makes a copy. So we are standing in the shade and I see these avispas so I decided that while we wait I'll knock them down. So started throwing little pebbles or sticks. It got pretty fun. While back to the lady I saw her walk away. So we left and then returned. She answers back asking where did we go and she tried to look for us. So we have a different day set to visit.

There is my week not too much had occurred and was another learning time. Continue to help others in the church. It is a ward family and we all do better when we help one another.

4th Month in the sun

*** no pictures from Jake this week

Hola,
We start with the title. It is once again hot and only by humidity. The farm boy from Colorado can't survive in this humidity. The heat sure but add humidity and I'm dead.

This week isn't very story filled because My trainer had left and that left me wondering where to go teach. What street I am actually on and who are the members. Here is why. I was focusing on the Spanish of things that I didn't remember who was who for a while until these last two weeks. And I didn't do the student thing and ask where are we, what street is this, and how would I get here. The last part we didn't do a lot of searching for new people the last two weeks with my trainer so when he went home. I had about two people to teach. It being my fault, on me for not asking.

Leading to the one big thing I did this week (The missionary thing) contacting. Knocked on one door to the next door and one more door. Walked in streets that I have never seen before. Learned the street names as well. It was a good experience to go through. Everyday reached my goal of 20 contacts. And found lots of people that say yes you may come back.

One last story for y'all. While looking for these new people. I had gotten lost and entered into the other missionaries area. And had to climb this hill to get out. It was a great week with walking everyday. I get my steps in of 10,000.

Spiritual Scripture for the week is 1 Nephi 8:12. Lehi desired to share the fruit of the tree of life. The fruit is the love of God. to share it we invite our friends and all that we know to take a look and try the fruit. I promise that it brings happiness. Yo se que este fruto es la amor de Dios y trae más felicidad que todo felicidad

Te amo,

Cambio Tres

Buenos Días, Madre

Está pasado semana no mucho ocurrió otro vez. Contactaba personas y enseñaba. Más arroz cada día con pollo.  [This past week not much happened again. I contacted people and taught. More rice every day with chicken.]

Dos cosas ocurrió. Uno was Zone Conference. Two was a short intercambio en Chicama. [Two things happened. One was Zone Conference. Two was a short exchange in Chicama.]

The zone conference was lots of fun. As you progress in the mission, I start to understand more and more every day. Maybe not speak completely like they are but I am able to understand and share. They taught more about how to be a better teacher and search for families. Families are very important in this life. Each member helps each other in progression, A family is a team and not just one man for himself.  President Nelson says. "In God’s eternal plan, salvation is an individual matter; exaltation is a family matter" So I encourage each of you to help each other progress and learn. We all have different strengths that will help another in life.

Two was the interchange. My companion was going to the temple Friday and had some things to do in the office. And an Elder in Chicama was doing the same thing. So I got to go to another area in my zone and serve there with an Elder from Bolivia. He was very fun to proselyte with. Well  at least for the morning. So I thought. They didn't return till five. So I taught and did the contacting in this area and my area had nobody. They had an activity that night and invitations to hand out. We were handing them out like candy and dropping them in houses. That all had a chance and knew about it. The other fun part was he didn't get the phone from his companion so we weren't able to schedule appointments or contact the elders. Lots of fun. And a great day to just contact and strengthen members.

To end on a spiritual note. Elder Holland gives this reference of life being a math problem. The key to this is repentance. When working a math problem and you make a mistake what happens. You have to go back and fix it before going on. You can't continue to progress and get the right answer. It never will work out. And this life has only one way to return to God and it's following the commandments. So when we make a mistake use the atonement and repentance. Fix the mistake and continue one.

Love, Elder Cormack
