Equinox - Feb 22, 2021

February 22,2021
Equinox

Hola a todos,

This week was a good week in service, blessings, and looking for new people to teach. Let us begin with the weather. It is beautiful and sunny once again. The snow was melting and the short sleeve weather was again. Well it always was depending on the person.

As a missionary near the office you can have the special privilege of helping in special tasks. Such as driving around mission vehicles. On Tuesday there was a zone conference out in Caldwell Idaho. With that the mission vehicle coordinator needed to get a couple of the new vehicles down there and bring some rentals back. We were recruited for that job. Then on Wednesday we were recruited once again to pick up some m
ore equinox vehicles from the lot and take them back to the office. It is fun driving those new vehicles and a great way to help the office missionaries that do much for us.

The next great thing we get to do is help the community members. We had gotten a referral for someone that wanted to receive a blessing. We called them up and put down a time to go visit. It is always so great to offer a blessing to someone and help them come closer to Christ in faith.

The next great thing we get to do as missionaries is help bring others unto Christ. And throughout this week we made lots of calls, looking for those who are willing to meet us and want to learn more. On that note we now have some appointments for this week. The other thing we do to find new people is hold English Connect classes. Which are English learning classes. We teach about 25 Spanish speakers every Thursday. It is great to see all these people willing to learn something new. At the end of our lessons we then share a spiritual thought. Not many people leave during these and listen to all we say.

That is the week for yall and here is my spiritual thought for the week. It is about faith and moving forward when we may have questions. This is a quote from the story of Job.  “‘It is not the function of religion to answer all questions about God’s moral government of the universe, but to give courage (through faith) to go on in the face of questions he never finds the answer to in his present status. Therefore, take heed of yourselves, and as a wise world thinker once said, “If the time comes when you feel you can no longer hold to your faith, then hold to it anyway. You cannot go into tomorrow’s uncertainty and dangers without faith”‘

Have a great week y’all and stay warm

Snow Shovel - Feb 15, 2021

Feb 15, 2021
Snow Shovel

Going off of Zone conference, it was a great day of learning. I learned more about receiving revelation and the importance of personal study. It was definitely not a favorite of mine before the mission of reading scriptures, but as the mission progressed my love for the scriptures grew exponentially. I enjoy taking time to read the Book of Mormon.

Then the other highlights of the week was all the service we got to do. We painted that Spanish branch's president's laundry room. One thing I am going to be great at after my mission is painting and fence work for sure. Then with the great snow, we were able to build member trust and shovel driveways. It wasn't even that cold being from Northern Colorado.

That is the weeks updates and highlights. I hope y'all stay warm and have a great week

Love,

Elder Cormack

Mountains - Feb 8, 2021

Mountains
Feb 8, 2021

Hola a todos

I have a bit more to write in this week’s email. We continue to have lessons and offer service to others.

To start off this week, I got to drive a new Chevy Equinox right off the lot. It was a lot of fun to drive the new vehicle and help the vehicle coordinator bring them to the mission office. I also got to do some highway driving into the big city of Boise.

Then the rest of the week we have lessons with different people. Some Spanish speakers and some English. The language of Spanish is coming back really fast. It is always fun to teach people about the gospel and help others learn more. One lesson was with a Spanish speaker and oh man she spoke so fast. I had a hard time understanding her because it was fast speech. But I continue to learn more.

My week has been filled with lots of little things that make it great. Some being members we have visited and others the visits we had with other missionaries.

I would also like to share some from my studies of this week. According to the Guide to the Scriptures a miracle is -"An extraordinary event caused by the power of God." In this sense when Abinadi was able to stand before the high priests and withstand their words would be a miracle - To me Abinadi had the power of God with him and the gift of discernment and is a gift that I can have myself as a missionary.

Have a great week y'all

Camel Back - Feb 1, 2021

Hola a todos,

This week was a busy week. We did a lot of service with the office Elders. We also got to know more and more members as well as some investigators.

So the service we did was making valentine bags to hand out to investigators around the mission. In the bags there are pamphlets on families and a movie about Christ. It was lots of fun to make and get to know the Elders in the district.

My Spanish is getting better and better as the weeks go by. Boise is lots of fun. We go on walks and take in nature. And as we walk we are able show people that missionaries are out and the members that we are out working.

There is the  week for y’all. It was service and walks. In all still fun to be a missionary.

Central Boise - Jan 25, 2021

Central Boise
Jan 25, 2021

Hola a todos,

I am now in Boise. Two minutes away from the temple. What a great place to be. It is a lot different than Nyssa I would say. But no matter where I go it requires teaching and service.

So for my last week in Nyssa we continued to teach some of our investigators and let them know that I was headed out. We also continued to work with members and they gave us some referrals to visit. It was a great week in Nyssa.

Thursday was transfer day so I spent it packing all up that morning and then riding the truck back to Boise. It was fun as I met up some missionaries that I haven't seen in a while. I then got to my area and it was some visits to get to know some of the people.  And the dinner I received my first night was chicken and rice. It was great to be back in a Spanish area.  And to say it is coming back very fast.

Now Friday to Sunday was lessons with some members and continuing to get to know the wonderful area of Boise.

What I want to share this week from my studies is D&C 4. For  awhile I thought it was only missionaries. But as I studied and learned more it is for all members because it was revelation given before the church was even organized. So before missions were a thing. That was so cool to see. So remember if you have a desire to serve God, you are called to his Great Work. That's all for now.
