Back Out
Hola, I'm back out in the field. The emails will be back to English
because I am serving in an English area. Of course Spanish will be practiced. I
have the wonderful opportunity to serve in Nyssa, OR in the beautiful Boise
Idaho Mission. Nyssa is a small town right on the border of Idaho reaching a
population of 3,000 people. It's got the small town feel and the members here
are excited to help others find the gospel and be taught. I have had the
privilege to meet two families and already the have given us names and trying
to set up appointments for us to teach.
This week has been filled with service opportunities, first work at a
food pantry and then digging sprinkler lines. Always something we can do to
stay busy will in isolation. I've found out we can teach in homes if they are
willing to allow us in. We can also have dinners with the members but the one
thing we can't do is tracting the good ol' door knocking. It will be something
I have to get used to with finding referrals and Facebook. I'm excited for this
learning opportunity. We did also have sacrament with some elders in the zone
and some sisters. It was great to be able to take this sacred opportunity. And
at the sacrament meeting I saw my old zone leader Elder Torres.
Nothing else is going on around. We keep ourselves busy by continuing to
learn more about the gospel and diagraming lessons. Reading conference talks
and the words of our leaders. There's the week. As I am here longer more
stories will happen.

Farm Town
Hola a todos, As I have
been serving in Nyssa and getting to know the members at dinner I see how it's
a farm town more and more. I have enjoyed getting to know the town. I've also
gotten the wonderful opportunity to share a message about missionary work. In
Jacob 5: 70-75 It reads we have been called as servants of the lord to work his
vineyard. That vineyard is the people that need the gospel. We are to share
with all even if it's the littlest way. And if we do so were promised happiness
and joy. An attitude of gratefulness for having the gospel. I know this to be
true.
Tuesday is nothing big,
a normal day of studies as we try to find new people. Had dinner with this
amazing family and had lots of laughs. And got to pick some fresh snap peas.
Wednesday was more
filled. District leader training so we went to Ontario then I spent a couple
hours with the other missionaries that were there cause their companion is a
leader. Then we returned home, got lunch and back out to do service. It was at
the food pantry. Then off to dinner at the second counselor in the bishopric.
Well they were also having a young men's activity and we joined in for
kick-ball. It was lots of fun and I got to know more members. Also meet a
recent convert who is really cool and funny.
Thursday was a zone
conference. And since we had a car we went early for an inspection. Everyday
has been a good day. After inspection we went in for the conference and got to learn about the
spirit more and other ways to be a better missionary. All around fun and great
time. Dinner that night was BBQ as well. I'm enjoying the food.
Friday nothing had
gotten planned so more studies. Had dinner with a family whose son was in Peru
as well but farther south than I was. So we got to talk about that for a while.
Saturday just a dinner
again but this time I gotta use my skill of Spanish. We had put the wrong
address in and arrived at the house knock on the door and this Hispanic man
answers. My companion starts asking if the May family lives there. He starts to
pat his pocket and look around for something. I believe it's his phone to
translate because we are just to white missionaries. I am able to open my mouth
and start speaking to him in Spanish and find an answer so that was lots of fun
and great practice.
Sunday, it was a great
day in helping and getting to know more of our wards. First it was dinner/
lunch with one family and a message. Very great family. Got to hear some funny
farm stories of things that could happen around my farm. The butchers are packed
all across the country. Well we then went to Owyhee ward building to meet the
bishop. He then took us around to meet some other families and give us a chance
to offer service and get to know them. Even in this time of covid the wards are
wanting to share and help spread the gospel. It's great.
To whomever may read
this, here's a special invitation. I invite you all to share something about
the gospel with at least one person and I promise that if you do so happiness
will follow. Like we know of the sons of Mosiah who felt sorrow and despair for
his fellow brethren because they don’t know of the gospel. Who then rejoiced
over every convert even if it was just one? We can feel this joy. I promise
this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Love, Elder Cormack
